Below are our top tips for improving confidence in the gym and how you can start enjoying your workouts and start seeing results.
1. HAVE A PLAN / GOAL.
Write down what it is you wish to achieve in the gym, don’t turn up and have no idea what you will aim to do.
2. BE CONSISTENT.
Set a goal each week to go to the gym a certain amount of times. If you end up going more than that then it’s an extra bonus.
3. START BY DOING WHAT YOU FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE DOING.
If it means walking on the tredmill then so be it. tart small and build up.
4. GO WITH A FRIEND.
Support each other and it will give you both some extra accountability.
5. LOOK TO INVEST IN A PERSONAL TRAINER FOR A FEW WEEKS..
A personal trainer will be able to show you how to correctly perform all the exercises in the gym and design a plan for you to follow.
6. TRY A FEW CLASSES.
Classes are a great way to build confidence as you will be around others who are in the same boat as you. They will also help to improve technique and understand how to do each exercise correctly.
7. GO AT CERTAIN TIMES.
If you can try not to go at peak times when it will be busy. Aim to go during the day when it is quieter.
8. DRESS CODE.
Where some thing you feel comfortable in, don’t add an extra stress to the pot.
Take your headphones and music with you. This will be a good distraction and keep you motivated.
10. EVERY ONE IS THERE FOR THE SAME REASON.
Every one in the gym is trying to improve on some thing, their health, fitness, confidence etc. Be mindful of others in the gym too.
