So, you’ve joined a gym and today is your first day to go in a try a have a good workout BUT you have no idea what to do…
You walk in and see people on the bike, using the free weights and working on the machines.
You find a quiet corner or a machine that isn’t being used and attempt to do what you think i an adequate workout.
You leave feeling like you’ve done some thing but you’re not sure what or if it beneficial to your goals.
You repeat this day after day and week after week and 6 months down the line you are still doing the same workout(s) with little or no results (or worse, injured).
You either continue with what you are doing with the hope that you will start seeng results or you give up all together and cancel your gym membership.
So here are my TOP TIPS for newbies hitting the gym:
💥employ a personal trainer at the same time of starting your gym membership. This way you will be able to learn how to use all of the equipment correctly AND will be provided with a workout program to follow that fits in with your goals.
💥do some research prior to starting the gym. There are plenty of FREE forums, websites and YouTube channels that will be able to help you get started. Just be sure to get your information from a trusted person or business as there is a lot of miss information out there too.
💥if the gym offers classes why not join in to learn the basics. Most classes will teach you squats, press ups and other movements that help you build confidence when you go to the gym on your own.
💥maybe you have a friend or family member who uses the same gym as you and you may be able to join them to get ideas and support.
💥Most equipment will have pictures and written descriptions about how to use the equipment correctly. Spend some time ensuring you perform the exercises correctly.
💥the gym should offer a full induction. My advice would be to take it and ask as many questions as you can. Most gyms have very competent staff who will be prepared to help you.
💥sign up to our 4Life academy for just £4.99 per month where we will provide you with video demonstrations of every exercise, provide downloadable workouts and be on hand to help you with any questions you might have. (the link is below)
