STOP CHASING PERFECTION AND STOP COMPARING YOUR SELF TO OTHERS…
Following a conversation with 3 of my female clients today i found myself explaining that happiness is a journey and not a destination and that they should strive to always do their best and stop comparing themselves to others.
***What happens when you reach your goal weight?
***What happens when you get your new 1 rep max in the squat?
***What happens once you’ve ran that marathon?
***What happens once you’ve fit into that dress you’ve always wanted to get back into…
Achieving these things will NOT guarantee happiness.
And setting a goal of perfection will also lead to failure, negativity and poor mental health.
BUT ARRON YOU SOUND SO NEGATIVE SO FAR WITH THIS POST…
Ok, hear me out…
Lets clear up the easy bit first.
💥💥💥STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS:
You will NEVER look like that girl on Instagram, you will NEVER achieve what that lad did in the gym yesterday… and do you know why…?
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THEM.
Strive to be YOU, to achieve your own goals, to set your own trend and to not worry about others and what goals they have.
And just to clear things up, no one will ever look or be like you either…
💥💥💥STOP CHASING PERFECTION, THERE IS NO SUCH THING
So many people are after the perfect body, the perfect training outcome and the perfect live…
I would imagine that if there was such thing a perfection it would be pretty boring AND then what, what happens once you’ve achieved perfection?
Strive for daily and weekly improvements.
💥💥💥STOP PUTTING SO MUCH STRESS AND PRESSURE ON YOURSELF
In most cases when we put too much stress and pressure on ourselves we end up popping.
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU…
👉I’M GOING TO EXERCISE EVERY DAY THIS WEEK
👉I’M GOING TO TRACK MY CALORIES EVERY DAY
👉I’M GOING TO DRINK 2+ LITRES OF WATER EVERY DAY
👉I’M NOT GOING TO DRINK THIS WEEKEND
👉I’M GOING TO EAT ONLY HEALTHY FOOD ALL WEEK
👉I’M GOING TO SLEEP 8 HOURS EVERY NIGHT MINIMUM
😭😭😭BUT THEN THIS HAPPENS…
👉YOU END UP DOING LESS THAN 3 WORKOUTS DURING THE WEEK
👉YOU FORGET TO TRACK CALORIES ON TUESDAY AND OVER CONSUME ON WEDNESDAY
👉YOU HAVE A LONG DAY AT WORK AND FORGET TO DRINK YOUR WATER
👉SATURDAY COMES AROUND AND YOUR BEST FRIEND INVITES YOU OUT FOR A DRINK, YOU END UP GOING
👉YOU HAVE A CHINESE TAKE OUT ON SUNDAY NIGHT
👉YOUR KID FALLS ILL AND IS UPP ALL NIGHT ON MONDAY…
And then you end up feeling like crap, wonder what the point is and end up beating yourself up mentally due to your ‘lack of commitment’ to your goals.
💪💪💪The next time you set out some goals why not try this…
😍AIM FOR 2 WORKOUT DURING THE WEEK, ANY THING ABOVE THAT IS A BONUS…
😍AIM TO TRACK 80% OF YOUR CALORIES, IF YOU FORGET OR GO OVER DON’T PANIC, RE-GROUP AND GO AGAIN
😍BY A 500ml BOTTLE OF WATER, IF YOU FINISH IT FILL IT UP AGAIN AND SEE IF YOU CAN DRINK THAT ONE TOO, IF YOU DO GREAT, IF YOU DON’T THEN THERE IS ALWAYS TOMORROW
😍GO OUT, BUT HAVE A SPIRIT AND DIET MIXER INSTEAD OF CIDER AND BEER. MAYBE AIM TO STOP DRINKING AROUND 10PM
😍HAVE A TAKE OUT, MAYBE SHARE A MAIN MEAL WITH YOUR PARTNER, OR JUST HAVE A SMALL PORTION INSTEAD OF A MEAL FOR 3
😍YOUR CHILD IS YOUR PRIORITY, IF THEY FALL ILL THEN YOUR PRIORITIES WILL HAVE TO CHANGE FOR A FEW DAYS.
You’re more likely to stick to the above and actually start seeing results.
And if you are wondering how i know this, it is because i’ve been there, i’ve worked towards perfection and it broke me, infact i broke down in a car park, ironically this is a picture of the exact moment it hit me like a tone of brick. Life is for living, enjoying time with family, friends and loved ones as well as aiming to be as healthy and as active as we can.
You are on this planet for a very very very short time.
Be you, set your own trend and f*ck what every one else thinks.
